Common questions
FAQ
What does 'private chef' mean exactly?
Robert comes to your home with ingredients and equipment, cooks your meal in your kitchen, serves it and restores the kitchen afterward. You are a guest in your own home.
Does submitting an inquiry hold my date?
No. Submitting an inquiry begins a conversation — it does not hold or confirm your date. A date is confirmed only after you accept a written proposal and the required deposit has cleared.
How far in advance should I inquire?
Two to four weeks is ideal for most events. More lead time is recommended for large celebrations, complex menus or events during the holiday season. Shorter notice is occasionally possible — it is always worth asking.
What are the prices?
Starting rates are listed on each experience page. Final pricing is provided through a written proposal after a consultation. Experiences begin at a per-guest rate. Final pricing reflects menu composition, guest count, staffing, rentals and the requirements of the home. Your date and final price are not confirmed until you accept a written proposal and the required deposit has cleared.
Can you accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions?
Yes. Robert takes allergies and dietary restrictions seriously. You will be asked about them during the inquiry process. Please be complete and specific — cross-contamination and severe allergies require a direct conversation before booking.
What should my kitchen have?
A standard residential kitchen is sufficient for most events. You will be asked about your stove type, oven and refrigerator space during the inquiry. Larger events may require minor staging coordination — this is discussed during the consultation.
Do I need to provide anything?
Robert brings all ingredients and specialized equipment. Standard kitchen tools — pots, pans, plates, glassware — are typically drawn from your kitchen. If you prefer a completely self-contained setup or have specific rental needs, that can be arranged.
How does payment work?
A deposit (50% of the event total) is required to confirm your date. The balance is due before the event. Payments are processed through Stripe. Payment links are sent after the proposal is accepted.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please see the full Terms & Cancellation policy. Cancellations within 14 days of the event may result in forfeiture of the deposit.
Do you travel outside New Orleans?
Robert primarily serves Serving New Orleans, Metairie and select surrounding communities. Travel to nearby Louisiana communities may be possible for the right event — describe your location in the inquiry.
